What am I to say in an errand blog? a conceirge blog?
Should I tell you about the time a customer and I went lamp shopping? We went to several lamp stores and finally found this very handsome, stylish pole lamp. Problem was, of course, the lamp came boxed, broken down in "easy-to-put-together" pieces.
Well, I'm no mechanic...and my customer was just as talented as I! When I arrived at her place to let her off, I guess I felt sorry for her, 'cause I asked, "Would you like me to help you put the lamp together?" "Oh, would you?" she exclaimed.
We carted the box into her living room, carefully dumped out all the stuff, and proceeded to try to read the directions! Picture this: two little white-haired "older-adult" ladies sprawled on the floor surrounded by metal cylinders, wires, shade, and a weird looking bulb.
Not to be undone, I proceeded to actually follow the directions. What a surprise when we found everything fit together as directed! Now, for the bulb. Well, I didn't know bulbs sometimes come without a screw-in dealy. Well, this one did. I couldn't get the thing to stay in its hole.
So what does an Errands in a Flash expert do in such a situation? Well, I told my customer that I would call my support staff, and I did. Of course, at the time she did not know my support staff consists of another seasoned adult at home, my husband.
Somehow he knew what to do. He said to push the bulb firmly into the holder and see whether it clicked. And it did! It popped into place. My customer turned the switch and........nope, you're wrong...it actually worked :-)
Just another successful and fun day in the conceirge, errands business. I really love that customer, the fun we continue to have together, and the memory of that day: one of my first errands and now a regular customer.
BTW: I don't whether I can do this blog thing, so I'll see what, if anything, happens with it. As you can see, I'm still willing to learn a few new tricks! Supposedly having a blog and using a few of the trades' "key words"--like Errands in a Flash, errands in Dallas, conceirge--will make those search engines find me! At least, somehow, you did.
Give Errands in a Flash a call when you need a lift!
